Mommy’s Home!

Filed under: Aleece — sean @ 7:53 am

Aleece’s plane landed on Tuesday at 6:04pm CDT.  Mommy is HOME!

Aleece finally let herself go on a vacation this past weekend.  Saturday she flew out to Las Vegas with a bunch of her girl friends.  The last real vacation she had was about 4 years ago, before Leif was born.  I have been trying to get her to get some time away for the past 2 years.  Finally this year she decided to go.

Aleece left Saturday and was gone until Tuesday.  I was a single parent for a few days, but I had help.  I went to my parents house for dinner Saturday night, Aleece’s parents took Leif to Sunday school on Sunday and Aleece’s mom watch the kids Monday and Tuesday during the day so I could work.  The kids and I had lots of fun playing at the park, watching movies, and goofing off around the house.  I would send lots of pictures and video to Aleece’s phone so she would not get homesick and could enjoy her time out there.

Aleece said she had a great time.  She thinks she got about 12 hours of sleep the whole trip, that’s about normal for her trips to Las Vegas.  I usually count on her getting rest when she gets home from those trips.

I am really glad Aleece had fun, but I am also really glad she is home…I missed my partner.  The kids are very excited to have mommy back too.

One Year Ago

Filed under: Sean — sean @ 2:19 pm

One year ago today was my last official day at Insurity.  I quit Insurity because of a few reasons that frustrated me and went to work for UnitedHealth Care.  Good move on my part.  I went to a company that had mature technological processes in place, a nice support staff, and procedures to get things done.  There was a need for overtime some weeks but management was quick to let us make up the time off.  Life was good.

So I quit UnitedHealth on Aug 29, 2008 and went back to work at Insurity.

Yep, 11 months after leaving Insurity I went back.  This past summer Insurity caught wind that I was open to talking about going back to work from them…probably due to the fact that I have learned the value of keeping past work relantionships up.  So, after Insurity heard that they brought me in to talk.  We discussed the reasons that I left in the first place and what they were doing to make things better.  In the end I felt that they had addresses or were working on addressing the issues I had so I agreed to come back, but not in my old job.  I wanted to be in a position where I could more easily make some changes.

Insurity agreed.

So, now I am back at the old company working on helping them fix and improve all of the issues that made me quit last time.

So, it’s been a year since I left to go find greener pastures just to find that they were pretty green right where I was.
