Ok, let me start by saying Leif is ok.
Second, Leif is not seriously hurt.
Third, Leif got 6 stitches, 1 internal and 5 external.
Feeling better? Good. Ok, I will tell you the story of what happened, there are pictures but for the people that are a little squeamish I will put the pictures at the end, so you can skip them if you want.
On Sat. Aleece and I went to a Munch-N-Jam for a band that some friends are in. (A Munch-N-Jam is a band practice where there they invite friends, family, and neighbors over to listen, gives a chance for the band to practice preforming in front of a crowd a bit. Oh and there is food.) Aleece’s parents were watching the kids so both Aleece and I could go. It was fun. After the Munch-N-Jam Aleece and I went out on a little date night. A little way into the date night we got a call from Aleece’s mom, she wanted us to come over and see if we thought Leif should go to the ER for a cut he just got. Well, that’s all we needed to hear. We got our tab and food to go and went over to the grandparents house.
At this point I need to back up a little. Grandma and Grandpa have a couch that has a very cool feature, each end has a recliner, you know the kind where the foot rest pops up and the back reclines so you can get REAL comfortable. Not only are they recliners, they are electric recliners. You push a button for the foot rest to go up or down, very cool. VERY interesting to a little boy.
Ok, back to Sat. Leif was playing with the recliner, he loves to make the foot rest go up and down. For some reason Leif got the bright idea to stick his arm into the foot rest when it was in the up position and then push the button so it would go down on his arm. Don’t ask me, it’s a guy thing and if you have to ask you would never understand.
So, when the leg rest came down it squished his arm and Leif panicked a little and forgot how to push the up button. At this point he started yelling for help, “HEP! HEP!” Grandma rushed over and saved Leif by use of the up button. This is the point where Aleece and I got called. When we got over there we decided to bring Leif in, just to make sure. The picture of the gash is at the very bottom, it’s a bit gory so brace yourself.
So, we got the the ER and they said that he would need a few stitches. We were shown to a room and they applied some topical anesthetic, stitched him up, bandaged it up and sent up on our way. There was a TV in the room and we got to watch movies.
Ok, now time for pictures. I will put a little room in so you have to scroll down the page a bit,
keep going…
just a little further…
are you sure? there is blood and gore…
Ok, if you got this far you must want to see pictures…
here we go…
Leif is watching a movie waiting for the Dr.

Here the nurse is cleaning the gash.

Mom is offering comfort after the pain medication was applied.

Raising the bed up to Dr height.

The Dr stuff to patch up the little boy.

Dr is just checking some more.

Getting ready for the patch job.

All done, just cleaning up a little.

Bandaged up and want to go home.

Ok, if you made it this far you are not afraid of gory pictures. Here is what the gash looked like at first.

For some reason I have a feeling this is just the beginning of Leif stitches…
